Senior Chapel - 4th hour today.

Talent show tomorrow from 2:00 ­ 3:30.

Three will be a short meeting after school today for those interested in playing soccer next year right after school. The meeting will take less than five minutes.

High School Announcements for Thursday, May 8, 2008

Tomorrow is Spiritual Emphasis Day. This is a non uniform day for 7th & 8th grade students. This is not an athletic wear day. Please bring $1.00 to help cover the cost (breakfast/lunch and snacks will be provided).

Lunch will be provided by the PTF today for all staff. The food will be set up in the elementary wing.

Voting will take place in the English classes today for Student Council officers. Please vote for President and Vice President. Winners will be announced at the end of the day.

If you have not signed up for the Athletic Banquet, which is Monday night, reservations will not be accepted after noon today.

High School Announcements for Tuesday, May 6, 2008

The NHS chapter elected officers for next year and they are:

The track team did well at the State meet. The girls 4x800 Relay received a bronze - Hannah Reeves, Michaela LaBarbera, Clara Heider, and Anna McMurry. Anne Marie Pohlman received a bronze in the 300 hurdles, and Mae Godwin finished 4th . In the 3200m Run Mollie Logan received a bronze and Annie Redelfs finished 8th . Mollie finished 8th in the 800m Run. In the 1600m Run Mollie finished 5th and Michaela came in 6th . The 4x400 Relay team came in 4th Hannah, Michaela, Mae, and Anne Marie. Anne Marie placed 7th in the Long Jump

The boys didn’t receive any medals but they again broke CFS records. The 4x100 Relay record that was broken last week was again broken this week with a 52.55 - Jeff Boyd, Jacob Moe, Caleb McDaniel, and Danny Brugmann. The 3200m run was broken by Danny 7th with a 12:04.41 and Caleb 5th , but Caleb will be the new record to break 11:50.12. Jeff placed 8th in the 200 m dash. The 4x800 Relay team came in 5th Jacob, Aaron McMurry, Danny, and Caleb. The 4x400 Relay which was all 7th graders did very well coming in 6th - Matt Spencer, Aaron, Caleb Schrier, and Nick Brooks. See you next year, and bring a friend!

High School Announcements for Monday, May 5, 2008

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. The PTF will provide lunch on Thursday.

Reservations are due tomorrow for the athletic banquet.

The Lady Knights returned Saturday evening with the Sportsmanship award and two All-State players. The soccer team won their first game on Thursday 2-1 over Tri-City Christian, the fifth seed in the tournament. Gretchen Winkelmeyer and Lauren Deschenes had the goals for the Lady Knights. On Friday, the ladies held North County to only 5 points (the fewest number of points scored against anyone except Christian High, the number two seed) but were not able to score on our attack. Anjolie Phillips had 14 saves to lead the Knights defensive effort. On Saturday, the ladies lost to Blue Ridge (the number three seed), 4-0, in the third-place game. Once again though the defense was able to limit Blue Ridge's scoring we were not able to capitalize on our attacks to score any points. Anjolie had 12 saves and Madi Goodman had 2 blocks. Anjolie was named First-Team All-State for her great work in goal. Laura Deschenes was named Second-Team All-State.

Results from the Joplin State Tournament for track ­ Girls finished ­ 6th all around

The golf team took 2nd place at the Joplin State Tournament. Wilson Sundvold took 2nd place and Joe Cherri took 6th.

The golf team took 4th place last Wednesday at Blue Ridge. Wilson Sundvold shot an 83. This Saturday the team took 3rd place at North County and Wilson shot an 81. There will be golf practice today at Gustin golf course at 3:45.

The Lady Knights traveled to St. Louis Thursday night to play Christian Academy and won by forfeit (1-0) when CAGS was unable to provide MSHSAA-licensed officials for the game. On Saturday, we traveled again to St. Louis, this time to face Christian High. The Lady Knights lost 0-4. Anjolie Phillips had 27 saves. Our next games are at home on Thursday, Senior Night, against Tri-City Christian. The seniors will be honored after the varsity game. Following the varsity game there will be a shorter JV scrimmage for our younger players.

The CFS Chapter of the National Honor Society held its annual Induction Ceremony last night. The following students were elected to membership on the basis of their scholarship, leadership, service and character. Stephen Wallace, Nikki Cunningham, Nathaniel Duker, Madi Goodman, Robert Hon, Amanda McDaniel, Caleb McDaniel, Anne Marie Pohlman, Annie Redelfs, Sarah Ridgwell, Mollie Spencer and Kimberly Stroud. Paula Willis and Connor Kirtley were also elected but were unable to attend the induction, they will be inducted at the next chapter meeting. Congratulations all!

The golf team is participating in a golf tournament in Kansas City today.

The Lady Knights rallied to score two goals on the way back from a 0-3 halftime deficit but lost to CHS 2-5 last night at Cosmos. Lauren Deschenes scored our first goal with an assist by Pascal Bouchard. Amanda McDaniel scored the second off an assist by Lauren. Anjolie Phillips had 10 saves. The Lady Knights defense lured CHS into 12 offside calls.

The Lady Knights lost a close one (1-2) to Blue Ridge Monday night. Blue Ridge scored first at 19 minutes, but the Lady Knights tied it up at 27 minutes on a goal by Mollie Spencer assist by Amanda McDaniel. Our offense matched Blue Ridge on shots, and our defense held them off until the closing minutes of the game when they scored the winning goal. Bethany Eubanks had 10 saves on her first start in goal. The Lady Knights play CHS tonight at home at 4:30.

You can still participate in the “kiss the pig” contest! Juniors will be taking donations until 4:15 on Thursday.

Amanda McDaniel had the other goal with an assist by Lauren. Anjolie Phillips had 6 saves and earned her first shutout of the season. The Lady Knights play Christian High tomorrow at Cosmos Park at 4:30, weather permitting.

The Missouri Scholars Academy is a three-week residential educational and enrichment program at UMC for 330 of Missouri's top high school juniors. Last year Ben Heider attended the Academy. Joplin Tournament ­ The Varsity Knights lost last night in Joplin to Christian High 63-51. Joe had 19 points and Nathanial Duker had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Bo Eudaly had 9 points ­ 3 three pointers in the 2nd quarter. They play North County today at 2:30.

The JV Knights played their last game last night against Centerplace. We lost 39-43. We had 4 players and 3 Jr. High players. The players all played great! Leading scorers were Josh with 16 points and Rion with 14 points. Luke Crepeau led rebounding with 8 in the game. Great season Knights!!! We were 5-0 at home and 9-4 overall! Thanks for supporting us!

The JV Team won on Saturday 54-40. The Knights had three players in double digits. Gavin scored 18, Rion 14, and Danny 12. Gavin also added 10 rebounds and Danny had 4 steals. Good win Knights! We are 9-3 and finished the season unbeaten at HOME!

There will be JV girls practice tonight from 6:00 PM ­ 8:00 PM in the gym. Hotel feels for JV girls and Varsity boys are due by Wednesday for the Mid West tournament in St. Louis this weekend. The fees are $25. Fees need to be paid to Ms. Allen by Wednesday in order to participate.

Varsity boys lost to North County this weekend. Joe Cherri had 16 points on senior night.

The Jr. High Girls won against to North County on Saturday Alex Greenwood and Amanda Caldwell led in scoring. Michaela LaBarbera led in rebounding.

The JV team defeated North County on Saturday. We were down 6-10 at half time, but fought hard in the third quarter scoring 14 points and kept North County to no field goals in the 4th quarter! In conclusion, we won 25-20, we are 5-2 on the season. Tyler Lichtenberg was the leading scorer. He had 2 threes in the game. Tyler and Chris ended the game making their Free Throws. Good job Knights! We have a home game tomorrow against Centerplace at 6:00 pm.

There will be a fire drill at 12:55 today (whether permitting).

Homes games Saturday. Jr. High girls at 11:00 AM, Jr. High boys at 12:00, JV boys at 1:00, Varsity boys at 2:30. We will be honoring the senior players and cheerleaders right before the Varsity boys game. The first grade class will be performing the National Anthem as well.

Junior Varsity boys were victorious last Friday against Camdenton. High scorers were Danny Brugmann with 16 points, Luke Crepeau with 10 points, and Josh Powell with 8 points. We have 4 wins and 2 losses. The Knights play North County at home this Saturday!

The Varsity boys team lost last night, but played a hard fought game all the way to the end. Joe Cherri played a great game scoring 18 points.

The JV girls lost 29 ­ 38 last night. They played extremely well against Tower Grove. Amanda Caldwell and Alex Greenwood led in scoring.

We played Plaza Heights last Saturday (won 24-19) and Tuesday (won 27-20). Saturday ­ Joey Berry led scorers with 14, Caleb Schrier had 10 rebounds and Chris McCoy had 4 assists. Tuesday — Joey and Chris had 8 points and Caleb had 7, Rebounds: Caleb – 7, Matt and Chris had 5; Assists: Chris – 3. Next game: Friday at North County.

The Varisty beat Plaza Heights 63-29. Joe Cherri had 21 points and 8 rebounds. Nathaniel Duker 14 points and 11 rebounds. Wilson Sundvold had 11 points with three three’s. The Knights played an excellent game. They play again tomorrow in St. Louis.

Jostens will be here Wednesday for senior announcements and junior class rings. They will meet with the seniors in the Social Studies room at 10:00 and the juniors in the English room at 11:00.

The winter formal dance is coming ­ Saturday, January 19th for 9-12 grade students. The theme is “Winter Wonderland”. Sign up in the office.  Cost is $10.  You must be signed up and paid in advance to attend.

No academic lab after school today.

High School Announcements for Friday, January 4, 2008

Mark your calendar ­ the winter dance is coming ­ Saturday, January 19th for 9-12 grade students. The theme is “Winter Wonderland”. Sign up will begin next week. ($10 per person).

The game times on Saturday with Northland Christian have been changed:  Jr. High boys at 9:00 AM, Varsity boys at 10:00 AM, JV boys 11:30 AM, JV girls at 1:00.  The cheerleaders will be performing their new dance routine.

There will be a student council meeting today during 4th hour in the kitchen to plan the dance.

On Saturday, January 5th, at 3:00 PM, Robert Hon, Nathaniel Duker, Caleb McDaniel will have an Eagle Scout Court of Honor in the Multi-Purpose room.  All high school staff is invited to attend.

The varsity game with Blue Ridge has been cancelled for tonight by Blue Ridge.

There will be a student council meeting tomorrow during 4th hour to plan the dance.
