Dear CFS Families,
This morning county and city officials issued a “Stay at Home” order: https://www.como.gov/CMS/pressreleases/view.php?id=6656&tbiframe=1, beginning March 25 through April 24. This order will require CFS to extend its remote instruction program at least through April 24th. We will plan to return to on-sight instruction at CFS on April 27th, however, we are aware this date is subject to change given much of the data regarding the spread of COVID-19.
We hope our first few days of remote instruction were helpful, and you have responded to the survey sent to you at the end of last week. Your survey responses will help us make necessary adjustments in the quality, quantity, appropriateness, and delivery of your child’s instruction to give them the best learning experience possible under these circumstances. We will resume remote instruction beginning this Monday, March 30th.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school office by leaving a message on our phone or by email. God’s people have many times distinguished themselves the best during the most difficult times, so let us continue to remember Paul’s exhortation in Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Yours in Christ,
Christian Fellowship Families,
Thank you for your prayers and flexibility during this transitional time. As you know, we’ve made some big strides in educational technology over that last few weeks in preparation for Online Instruction. One of the great things about our tightly-knit community, is our ability to support each other.
Comcast and ATT have agreed to help those affected by school closures with ISP. With our kids spending more time online, we also want to make sure to offer security solutions that will protect your home network and devices. OpenDNS has always offered free access to their Home DNS filter that removes access to websites based on their ratings.
If your family could use a hand with home technology, I’ve designed this Home Technology Checklist that will help let me know what kind of help you need.
Dear CFS Families,
In these uncertain times, many schools all over the world are scrambling to find ways to continue the learning process in a remote setting. From the moment I stepped foot into Christian Fellowship, I knew there was something different about this place. An emphasis on family, in a Christ-centered environment, where students are known and loved; this for me was the perfect launching pad for a "state of the art ministry" where Christian discipleship and 21st Century Learning intersect.
With us transitioning to a distance learning model starting Wednesday, I am pleased to introduce our solution that will ensure high quality, Christ-centered education... from a safe distance. Our teachers have been working tirelessly and taking some professional risks as they stretched beyond their comfort zone to collaboratively build an accessible online platform for their instruction. With the help of Mr. North, we have been setting up systems and training students to access the materials they will use. Our mission is that there will be minimal interruption of learning. I commend our teachers for going above and beyond in learning these new methods in a matter of days while they continued their daily teaching duties; we really have an amazing faculty, and I am honored to serve them.
We are using the days leading up to Spring Break to test our platform and refine our system to meet our students' needs. We will be in contact over break as the situation unfolds. The website housing our resources should function on most devices with an internet connection; we also recommend a keyboard for older students completing written assignments.
You can access our Remote Learning Platform going on the school website and navigating to the My CFS page, or directly by following either of these links:
Thank you for your commitment to Christian education as we walk this road together. Please feel free to respond to this email or reach out to Matt North if you require any assistance; we appreciate your feedback as we work to improve the experience and remain connected with our students.
In His Service,
